But starting from 2019, version 1.14 – the Village & Pillage update, we can now make a campfire from the crafting menu straight away.

Here’s the step-by-step process you’ll need to make a campfire in Minecraft.

1. Open the crafting table

The first thing to craft a campfire is to open the 3×3 crafting table. Let’s say it has a number from 1-9.

2. Place The Needed Materials

  • In the 3×3 crafting table, place one stick on the grid number 2, 4, and 6.
  • Then, put the coal or charcoal on the grid number 5.
  • Lastly, put three wood logs on the grid number 7, 8, and 9. You can use any kind of wood log.
  • A campfire will appear in the result box right to your crafting table.

3. Save It to Your Inventory

Now, you have successfully crafted a campfire. All you need to do now is to click and drag the item down to your inventory to keep it save.

To use campfire, you can put it in the place you want. Make sure not to step on it because it will decrease your health. After the campfire is set, you can use it right away.

You can use campfire to make a light source at night. It can make a good lighting for your surrounding for both indoors and outdoors. When placing a fireplace indoors, the smoke will stuck on the roof.

3. Make a Fireplace

Campfire can also be a good fire source to light a fireplace on your home. If your home has a chimney, it will release smoke from your chimney up to ten blocks high.

4. Collect Honey

Just like in real world, using smoke is beneficial to keep bees calm when collecting honey from a beehive. In Minecraft, you can place a campfire next to a beehive to harvest honey safely.
